What Is Gyeop? Why We Built It

We create information every day.

A quick note.
A document for work.
A task we need to remember.
A meeting on the calendar.
A photo, a file, an idea we want to come back to later.

Over time, those pieces begin to spread out.

Notes live in one app.
Documents live somewhere else.
Schedules go into a calendar.
Conversations happen in chat.
And when we want to publish something, we move it all over again to a blog or another platform.

We end up with more information than ever, but less of a sense of how it all fits together.

Gyeop started with a simple question:

What if our thoughts and records could grow together, instead of being scattered across different tools?

That question became Gyeop.

Why “Gyeop”?

“Gyeop” — 겹 in Korean — means a layer, or something built up in layers.

That idea felt right to us because meaningful knowledge rarely appears all at once.

A short note becomes a longer thought.

That thought turns into a document.

The document connects to another page, a task, a conversation, or an event.

More context is added over time.

Little by little, separate pieces begin to form something larger.

Thoughts gain context.
Context becomes knowledge.
Knowledge grows in layers.

That is what we mean by Gyeop.

So, what is Gyeop?

Gyeop is a workspace for capturing ideas, organizing information, working with others, and publishing what matters.

It can begin with something as simple as a blank page.

Write a quick note or a long-form document. Add headings, lists, checkboxes, images, files, or other pages. Organize information into a hierarchy, or connect related pages together as your ideas grow.

But a page in Gyeop is meant to be more than a static document.

Pages can become part of a larger system of information — one where ideas, projects, people, and time can connect naturally.

Different information deserves different views

Not everything makes sense as a document.

Some information is easier to understand in a table.

Some belongs on a board.

Some becomes much more useful when placed on a calendar.

Gyeop is designed around the idea that your information should not be forced into a single format.

Use a calendar when time matters.

The underlying information can stay connected even as the way you look at it changes.

Built for both personal work and collaboration

Gyeop is being built so that collaboration happens where the work already lives.

Instead of separating the document from the collaboration around it, we want them to feel like one continuous experience.

We think that matters.

More than a collection of features

Our goal is not simply to put notes, documents, databases, calendars, collaboration, and blogging into one application.

Putting many features in the same place is easy.

Making them feel connected is much harder — and much more important.

A small note you write today might become the beginning of a project months from now.

A project page might create an event on your calendar.

A document might become something your team works on together.

And something that began as a private thought might eventually become a public article.

The value is not in any one of those features.

It is in the path between them.

That connected flow is what we want Gyeop to become.

Gyeop is still being built

Gyeop is not finished.

We are still building features, fixing rough edges, simplifying things that became too complicated, and questioning decisions we once thought were obvious.

Sometimes a feature sounds useful until we actually use it.

Sometimes a tiny inconvenience reveals a much bigger problem.

That process is part of building Gyeop.

The product will continue to change.

But the idea behind it is much less likely to.

We want to build a place where information does not lose its context as it grows.

A place where thoughts can stay connected over time.

A place where writing, organizing, collaborating, and publishing feel like parts of the same experience.

A place for things to accumulate meaning

Gyeop can begin with an empty page.

Then a sentence appears.

Then another page.

A file.
